Professional Career
Manu Bhakar is multi-talented when it comes to sports, the reason behind that is, before she decided to make her sports career in the shooting, she has already played few other sports like Manipuri martial art, boxing, tennis, and skating and winning medals at national level.
But one day when Bhakar came to her house with a swollen lip which she got from her particular boxing session, her mother suggested her to change her career.
In the year, 2016, she came to a conclusion that she will make shooting her profession. She started practicing shooting at her school (Universal Senior Secondary school) in Goriya Village, which is the only place in her district, with a shooting range. The distance between her home and a shooting range is more than 20 km but her passion and dedication towards her choosing profession had always motivated her to pursue her goal. She was trained for almost five hours a day.

“It’s an important win for Manu. Even Yashaswini was in contention for the medal and I am happy for the shooters. Manu is mentally very strong. I remember that when she joined the national camp, her mother told me that she talks a lot. She is always asking questions about the sport. But I am happy to answer them. She is not in the TOPS scheme but we need to groom talented shooters like her for the 2020 Olympics,” Rana
